Hi there,
Welcome to my weekly newsletter and what a week it is shaping up to be. Ryder Cup just round the corner and also the real Ryder Cup from Hazeltine. We can talk about the Ryder Cup both at Wishaw and Hazeltine later, what we need to talk about is how good the TOUR Championship was and a certain Mr McIlroy. What a finish by him, did you see him holing that shot for a two, I hope he had entered the Magic 2's! The play off was excellent to watch and imagine holing a twenty foot putt to win 10 million dollars and the FedEx Cup. He looked rather pleased with himself and quite right too. Well done Rory.
Goodbye to 'The King'
Arnold Palmer sadly passed away but his legacy as a true icon of the game will certainly live on. Labelled as the first real superstar of the game, it is said that 'The King' transcended the game of golf.
Palmer became the first major US superstar and went on to win seven Majors, including four Masters titles - and his rivalry with the 'Big Three' dominated golf.
Tributes have poured in, from players past and present, as well as from the US President. Jack Nicklaus said:
"He was more than a golfer or even great golfer. He was an icon. Arnold was someone who was a pioneer in his sport. He was the king of our sport and always will be."
Kellacher Trophy
Congratulations to Alex Hammill and Tony Bell (pictured) on winning the Kellacher Trophy after beating Steve Jeffrey and Sandy Mitchell in the final.
