Hi folks,
Welcome to this week's newsletter! It has been fantastic weather this week again and the course is really playing a bit "linksy". On the plus side it's harder to make a pitchmark on the green, so big Gerry will be happy.
Inter Club League Matches
This week sees the return of the Inter Club League Matches, the format has changed this year and instead of 10 singles matches we are now playing 5 doubles matches in the best ball format - sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck to the team and let's hope for some spectators.
Wild Bill Cleans Up
A group of Wishaw Winter Leaguers took on Drumoig last weekend, word in the street is they drank the bar dry of Bacardi. Another rumour is that Wild Bill Denholm cleaned up. He must have been on the Vodka. Here is a shot of the hardy bunch.
It's All About The Strike
New member Brian McLelland came along for his first lesson and I was pretty impressed with his swing; however, he was struggling with the strike of the ball and was catching it thin. From the first picture we can see the ball was too far back in his stance, this was causing him to meet the ball too steeply on the downswing. The second picture shows a much better set up with the ball more central; this helps him trap the ball and turf together.
If you are struggling with your strike then please click here and get booked in.
Truvis Now In-store
I have managed to get my hands on a few dozen of the Truvis Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. These have been going down a storm and at only £33 a dozen will really compete with the Pro V1 ball.
Everyone Will Have One!
I also have acquired a limited edition "US open" bag by TaylorMade. Again this is an expensive bag valued at £450, all the staff players will use it, including new signing Rory McIlroy. This will be up for raffle at only £10 per ticket and only 59 will be sold. They are first come first serve and are available in the shop. The Fullen raffle is as follows:
- TaylorMade US Open bag
- PUMA spikeless golf shoes
- TaylorMade wedge
