Hello Golfers,

Welcome to this week’s newsletter, I hope you are well and not too put off the golf by the weather. I was lucky to accompany 15 other golfers (mainly Wishaw members) to Benidorm golfing at the weekend.

The weather was pretty perfect apart from a huge storm on the Saturday night. Thankfully we were finished golf and in the metropolis of Benidorm when it happened. We managed to seek refuge in a couple quiet bars and the owners of the bars kept us fed but mainly watered for the remainder of the evening.

I would highly recommend a visit to the Golf Villaitana Resort, it has 2 course which are in top, top condition, plus the costs are very reasonable also.

Celebrate this year's winners!

Tickets are still available for this event tomorrow night, and if you are a prize winner it would be really nice if you could attend. This night is aimed at you guys to bring along family and friends to cheer you up there.

Turkey Trot

On Sunday 9th December we will be holding our annual Turkey Trot and the tee booking sheet is now open. Names can now be given to the pro shop staff and you can book your fourball in as long as it’s paid by the 2nd December, entry £5.

Wednesday Sweep - 31/10/18

There was a wee drop in numbers this week as only 9 played, hopefully it was just the weather. But remember your handicap isn’t effected here. Plus you only needed 38 points to be in the money this week.

Bags of fun

Winter is coming, but we know that won't prevent you avid golfers getting out on the course to face biting winds, muddy shoes and, most of all, rain. Lots and lots of rain. What do you take from this?

As golfers, there's nothing more satisfying than a shot which is perfectly executed - even if it is a rare occurrence for many of us. It could be a booming drive which splits the fairway down the middle, or maybe a wedge shot which stops dead, two feet away from the hole. In fact, when you consider how often we use our wedges during a round of golf - see the graph below - the latter is something that we should all be striving to achieve.

So, what do you take from the graph above? In our eyes, it highlights just how important your short game is. We see a lot of you spending time hitting balls on the range, which is great, but don't neglect the less glamorous side of the game when practising - it's where your score is 'made'.

We can't stress the benefits of having wedges that are suited to every aspect of your game either. Cleveland have two models in their range for you to choose from: the CBX is a cavity back wedge that is incredibly forgiving, whilst the RTX 4 is its tour offering that offers maximum versatility and precision.
