Coach's corner
Although the bad weather is pretty much here I am still trying to coach as best we can on the practice ground. Remember winter is the best time to try and work at your game. Lessons are available most days so why don’t you pop in and talk to me about a package that will suit your game. Last Friday I had newish member Kenny Crawley come along for a much needed lesson. For anyone that has seen Kenny play they will know he has a pretty sound golf swing but by his own admission he was struggling to control his irons after a very successful change of grip. In picture 1 Kenny's big problem was his poor ball position, he was struggling with thin and heavy strikes and even when he did strike it well he had developed a big pull to the left. This was all due to his ball position being too far forward (near left foot). The path of the club was working left with a closed clubface and this is where his pull was coming from. In picture 2 we can see a much more central ball position, this helps to swing straighter through the ball but the angles of attack are better also, this will bring the club onto the ball better. Instantly we saw better strikes and straighter, flighted shots. |
