Welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Well it had to happen right, not quite the beast from the east as yet but we had a little flurry of snow and it has closed the course for a few days. A little hope for the weekend as Friday is supposed to soar to tropical conditions of 9 degrees so fingers crossed for Saturday.

The golf from Dubai starts at 11.30am today (Thursday) as I write this, so that looks like it’s going to be my entertainment for today.

Also be careful if you are coming to the club today/tomorrow as the council is working with the big trees on the road.

Who is this guy?

Michael McCready, rumour has it, only performs when there’s a huge prize fund up for grabs - just like tiger. We had 48 players turn out which wasn't bad for winter greens being in operation. We now have £710 saved up for the final day shootout, so let’s hope for some better weather over the next few days to try and boost this up a little.

Best steak pie in the world...

Well done to Wishaw member Jamie Chapman the local butcher who scooped the award of the the 'best steak pie in the world'. I am sure we can all vouch for their brilliance especially over the New Year period. I had a few bites of one myself.

Well done Jamie, keep up the good work, and please members pop in for some cracking pies and butcher meat and support the local businesses. If any member has any news they wish they would like to share then let me know.

I am pleased to tell you I have managed to sign a new club deal with Wilson Staff.

I used these clubs for many years and not only do they make fantastic equipment plus the price point is a little friendlier than some of the other brands.

I will have lots of demos in the shop for you to try (a whole bag for you to take out and compare). Looking at some of their models I am sure that they are really in with a great chance of selling well, especially as you can get fitted at their head quarters in Irvine free of charge.

Spotlight: Epic Flash driver

This time two years ago, we were sitting here in fascination as Callaway introduced Jailbreak Technology for the very first time, which produced significant distance gains for a lot of golfers.

Fast forward to now and Callaway is bringing Epic Flash to market (arriving here in a couple of weeks), which they say has a 'radically different face design' that will promote even faster ball speeds and, in turn, even more distance.
