I hope you have all had a good week on the golf course. This week we have seen the weather conditions turn from hard and fiery to soft and wet. This certainly makes a difference to the way the course plays. Make sure you take an extra club or 2 this week as the course will be playing a little longer and don’t be scared to throw the ball into the green a little further as it will stop quicker. That is your free tip for the week.

Club news

Funky Nats Golf Day

A big thanks must go to you the members for giving up the course on Sunday for such a wonderful event. Once again the staff at Wishaw golf club went above and beyond to make this a wonderful day for the charity Epilepsy Scotland.

The Funky Nats charity raised £11,000 on the day for the charity and what a wonderful achievement that is. The guys at the charity thanked Wishaw Golf Club for the chance to use the wonderful facilities at our club and are already looking forward and planning the event next year.

It was great to welcome our friends from south of the border to the club for the annual match. A match that was carried out in the usual fashion with the Scottish version coming out on top 8-4.

Looking at some of the players on the Monday I think it might have been the bar takings that came out on top. Well done to all who took part, a great tradition being kept alive.

Gerry's new toy...

Look at big Gerry’s face. He's proud as punch with his new all singing all dancing rough cutter from Reesink.

I am sure this will make a big difference to the look and consistency of the rough, having said that we are supposed to be on the short stuff in the middle rather than the rough. Reesink also sponsored the new waterproofs the greenstaff are wearing so thanks to them for looking after the boys.

It is only £10 to play and is a great chance to bring a friend to play our excellent course.

Golf in Scotland Masters Texas Scramble

Would you like to go to The Masters next year for £15? Get a team of 4 (members or guests) together and get your names to the pro shop team for a fun competition in a texas scramble format. It is a great chance to qualify for the national final round your home club, and you have a massive advantage over the visiting players so take advantage of it. This will sell quickly once advertised on facebook so get in quickly and get your desired tee off time.

Silloth Fun Day

The annual Silloth Funday is getting close, but entries are not being taken at the moment (draw goes live on 10/6/19). We are currently looking for sponsors for the event. Back in the day the only way to get a game in this event would be to donate a prize. It would be.great to get that sort of support once again. Please help make the Silloth be one of the best competitions in the calendar.

1 gap, 2 options

The term 'gapping' is commonly used to refer to the yardage distance between each of the wedges in your bag. We want to break this thought process and get you to think about gapping for your entire set, because any unequal gaps between clubs will have a detrimental impact on your game.
