Turkey Trot

Well, we managed to play. The Saturday was washed out but the Greenkeepers gave us the benefit of the doubt on Sunday to get the Annual Turkey Trot played. We had just short of 40 golfers play in what turned out to be a decent day weather-wise.

The overall winner was that man Ian Campbell again with a fantastic nett 57. This pushed Brian Karran into 2nd place with his nett 61 who must have thought he had done enough. If you think big Ian is good at golf you should see him at bowls.

Seriously though thanks to everyone who played and supported the event.

After the presentation, we kicked back and listened to the very talented Stevie Donegan. The lounge was full and a great day was had by all.

This was the first time I had heard Stevie and it certainly won't be the last time. I thought he was fantastic. Going with the atmosphere in the clubhouse I trust you all did also. Thanks once again for supporting YOUR club.

Kids Christmas Party

Many thanks to Pat Murray for organising this year's Kids Christmas Party. The kids had an absolute ball and were all happy with their presents from Santa. Many thanks to Santa who took time out his hectic schedule to deliver his presents in style. A brilliant wee night and well done to all at Wishaw Golf Club for making this happen.

PGA Lunch at The Hilton

I had the pleasure of attending the PGA lunch at the Hilton on Wednesday courtesy of Glenmuir. A huge thanks to them for the invite. It was a pleasure to meet and get a blether with Scottish golf legend Sandy Lyle. He took time out to sign autographs and chat with everyone. A true legend and the first British golfer to win the Masters.

I did ask him about the story of him driving the first green at Lanark with a 1 iron. He said he has no memory of actually doing that but said he probably could. The way he hit that thing you wouldn't be surprised. Also on the stage was a Canadian comedian called Sean Collins. Look him up, he was very funny.

The Inbetween Christmas and New Year Scramble

So far we only have 10 teams signed up for the above event. This was a huge success last year, let's see if we can get it to 18 teams. Get in touch with the pro shop team to reserve your starting hole. The teams can be made up of member/member teas or member/guest teams. We have the wonderful David Edgar playing after the golf.
