Day 105 in the big brother house. Well, this is brutal is it not? I don't know about you but this is surely the worst weather I can remember in February. The course has taken a pounding and has been closed for most of the month, there really is not much else can be done. Even the links courses have been closed some days.

Let's hope after this latest bad weather has passed it brings something better. Try and keep the chin up, not easy when deprived of golf but surely we are almost there. At least you have the excitement of this weekly newsletter hitting your inbox.

Competition results

Winter Series - 15/02/2020

Well, it was a wild day and that showed with the amount of cancellations (allowed) and no shows (more than frowned upon). 12 players took to the hallowed turf and the scoring once again was excellent. I will be looking for this form to continue into the summer season.

Well done to Kevin McLelland on a fantastic 40 points who pipped Tam McKenna who had 39. Well done to Peter Screen who won the second class with 34 points. We now have £769 saved up for the final which hopefully will go ahead on the 28th of March.

More Than Just Grass Cutters

Although the weather has been brutal the busy bees that we call our Greenkeepers have been hard at it. They have obviously had a rough time with the weather also. Aside from their greenkeeper duties they do an awful lot of work around the property and to the machinery. This saves the club money as well as makes the place look good. Take a look at the before and after pictures as well as the wee projects they do from painting bins to making their own tee markers.

Once again I had the pleasure of coaching the future champions of the club over at Fairways Golf Arena. This has been a godsend this winter because apart from using this I would have done very little coaching. Check out Zack and little Aaron sending them away.

A great turnout of 12 juniors came. Not bad for a champions league night. Again if you want your child enrolled then please get in touch.

Keep a grip on it

A recent golf survey highlighted some very interesting statistics regarding golfers' habits and their equipment, two of which you can see in the image below.

These stats might not mean a lot to you at face value, but the general recommendation is that you change your grips once a year, especially if you play regular golf.

The truth is, grips lose their efficiency over time and when they do we end up gripping the club too tightly, which restricts our ability to swing the club freely. Just something for you to think about...
