Greenkeeper News
18th Green looking fantastic in the sun

Amazing what some stripes and sunshine can do to a golfer. How good does the 18th green look? Are you ready to sink the all-important winning putt to win the £1.00 off your playing partner? Again been up having a look at the course (feeling sick at not getting to play). It's going to be fantastic when we return. There is little to no divots on the fairway (other than the unwanted guests). The bunkers have all been raked up also and the finer details are really starting to add extra definition. Mrs Sturgeon say the words.....

Covid 19 Update

We are patiently waiting on Mrs Sturgeon giving us the nod. Hopefully, we should know a bit more on Thursday as she is supposed to give us a roadmap to plan out the way back. The Committee has been working hard discussing the procedures we will have to follow, understandably we all really need to wait and see what she says in her Roadmap. To prepare you for what might lie ahead I have jotted down a few possibilities. Thanks to the members who gave me their views last week. All great points, funnily enough, none of you thought the course should remain closed. My fellow Professional's down south have been working with these very strict guidelines and some of these may have to be used once we open.

  • Members Only
  • Tee times booked online or with Professional
  • 10 minute Tee off times
  • 2 balls only
  • Possible limit to games at Weekend
  • Pro shop may open under strict social distancing rules

These are some points that we may have to introduce, the committee is working on a more detailed plan to get us all back safely but will confirm after we know more about opening. It is worth pointing out that the key thing out of some of the points above is you will HAVE to be a member to play golf. Therefore if you intend on playing at Wishaw this year it is important that you get in touch with the club and pay your fees. It is understandable in this unprecedented time why everyone has not paid. If you are having financial difficulties through this time then let the club know. they will work with you to get you playing. I stress again that you will not be able to play unless this happens.
