Hi folks, welcome to my first newsletter of the year and can I start it by wishing all my readers a very happy New Year and wish you health and happiness for the coming year, especially on the golf course! I hope Santa was good to you all, he never brought me the Porsche I asked him for but I hope you all got what you wanted! If not you know where I am!!
We are still going strong in the Winter Series and hats off to you all for battling through some tough weather. I have four results to post from the festive period so here goes:
Sat 27 Dec - We only had five people play so therefore only one class. The winner of which was Gordon Sommerville with 37 points, one ahead of runner up Brian Anderson with 36. David Lees won the magic 2's with his effort on the 8th.
Sun 28 Dec - Sunday saw a better turnout on this day. First Class was won by Vic Philbin with 42 points who edged out Jim Smith by a single point. Second Class saw David Clarke Jnr win with 46 points, in second spot was Ronnie Cowan with 44 - great scoring! The magic 2's were won by lucky Vic Philbin who picked up £31 for his troubles!
Sat 3 Jan - The first one of the New Year! I think a combination of too much turkey and winter greens encouraged a lower turnout than expected but again well done to the hardy souls who went out. We only had 10 play so again we put the classes together. In first place was Fraser Scotcher (again) with 41 points and in second place was Chris Pickles with 39 points. Sadly, there were no magic 2's so we rolled it on to next day!
Sun 4 Jan - A much better turnout although still winter greens due to frost. Some great scoring on the day - will we just play off mats and winter greens in summer?? Winner of First Class was Lisa Kilpatrick (first lady winner) with 44 points who just pipped Vice-Captain Graham Howarth who had 43. Not a bad first showing from that pair! In Second Class the scoring was the best it's been and John Dewar came out on top with 47 points, one ahead of second placed John Wilson - amazing scoring folks, keep it up! The magic 2's were won by Jim Smith who had his (lucky) 2 on the 11th hole to earn £52.
I have set the final day for Saturday, 21 March so get that in your diaries and make sure you have eight appearances before then! If anyone is unsure how many they have had check with me as I have the record here. So far we have had over 200 people play at least once! Depending on how many people actually play eight times will depend on whether I need to do it over 2 days. If this happens we will use Sunday, 22 March as the second day. Watch this space with regard to that!
Thank you to everyone that used my shop to help Santa deliver his presents! Lots of lesson vouchers were purchased and let's hope for some decent weather so we can get underway with them and get your games sharp for start of season.
