Parky's 4th Pro Day - Sunday 27th September

Well it is nearly here. Parky's 4th Pro Day at Wishaw Golf Club. Each year it has grown from strength to strength and hopefully this year is as much of a success. I appreciate the date I have been given could have been a little more suitable, lots of you are unable to make it due to September weekend but to all who are playing let's have a brilliant day. Can I thank you all just now for the support and to all the sponsors a huge thanks. I have a charity raffle going also with some amazing prizes. Anyone can take part and there is no limit to the tickets sold, in fact all profits from the raffle will  be going to a local charity of my choice. I will publish the final prize list very soon but rest assured you are playing for some cracking prizes. There are some tee times available also so let's see if we can get a full house.

Club news

A wee funny

Around 1:00pm a van came flying into the car park chasing a thief who was on foot getting away after stealing some sports gear. The thief was getting away until a 4 ball of policemen who were enjoying the Wishaw fairways. They were playing the final hole and managed to capture the getaway thief. Crime doesn't pay folks, especially if the bizzies are playing golf.

Assistant's news

James at British Assistants at Oakmere

You will notice I have been putting the hours in this week? Yes James is away playing (again). The big man qualified on Monday for the final rounds of the British Assistants being held at Oakmere in Nottinghamshire. He scored one over in the opening round and is five behind the leader. Looking for a good score tomorrow to push him up the board a little. Will report on Facebook how he does, Stick in big man and fly the flag for Wishy.

A new era?

Bryson DeChambeau’s U.S. Open victory was dominant, comprehensive and (however you feel about the man) impressive. Having transformed his body by adding extraordinary amounts of muscle, ‘The Mad Scientist’ has developed a completely unorthodox golf swing. In fact, during his winning round on Sunday, commentators compared his driver swing side-by-side with a top baseball player!

The big-driving American wasn’t alone in breaking the mould, though. Matthew Wolff, the eventual runner-up, moves his knees more like an Elvis Presley dance move than a PGA Tour winner’s golf swing. Both of these men, alongside world number one Dustin Johnson, go to show that there is definitely no one way to swing a golf club.
