Callaway Fitting Day - Monday 26th October

My final fitting day of the season will soon be here and what a cracker to finish with. Callaway will be here on Monday the 26th of October. This is a fantastic chance to get fitted for the latest product from Callaway (free of charge). Take advantage and try out the new Mavrik and Big Bertha ranges. To book an appointment then please get in touch with the Pro Shop Team.

Can I just take the chance to thank the committee for letting me use the first hole for these events. Also thanks to the members for allowing this to happen. Our facility doesn't lend itself to these days very well but we always manage. Thanks.

Club news

Clubhouse to close

Due to new restrictions implemented by the Scottish government today the bar within our club will be closed from 6 pm on Friday 9th October until 26th October.

Unfortunately, this again means that no members can access the upstairs area of the club. This applies to all members including those who use it for tea and coffee in the mornings.

At present, the locker rooms are unaffected although we will no doubt hear from Scottish golf soon.

I will of course update you as soon as I receive further information.

When Sergio Garcia won The Masters in 2017, every headline was along the lines of ‘Finally!’. More than three years later, his win at the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship marks his first win since and prompted many similar headlines. Although, did you know both victories involved Sergio putting with his eyes shut at impact?

On the European Tour, Tommy Fleetwood looked to cap the return of the big names at the Scottish Open, a Rolex Series event, with a victory. But fellow Englishman Aaron Rai upset the odds to beat Fleetwood in a playoff that saw Tommy miss from a couple of feet at the first playoff hole.

The new World Handicap System (WHS) comes into effect on the 2nd November 2020, which is now less than a month away.

We know that many of you have questions about what it is, why it's needed and how it will impact your current handicap.

The secret to a successful winter

Practice makes perfect, right? But perfect practise gets you there a lot faster. We've said it before - and we'll no doubt say it again - but winter provides the ideal opportunity to iron out some of those faults that have crept into your game.

It starts with a list

Begin by evaluating (out of ten) how close you are to your target for each area of your game. It's always best to be completely honest with yourself when doing this. In other words, forget about the odd time when you've hit a shot like Tiger and focus on what happens consistently round after round.
