Steven's poor posture

Steven struggles from aches and pains just like every 21 year old. Lack of power would be his complaint recently. From here we can see the legs are in a position where they cant help at all. A narrow stance and over flexed knees all but locked his leg action. No wonder he complains of pain after playing.

Looking better after 5 minutes

In this picture, we can see a much better leg position. Almost instantly we saw the legs work much better and not surprisingly an increase in clubhead speed. For the first time in a while, Steven could get his weight moving through the ball and a natural full follow-through came in. This was all due to better footwork and leg action. Next week we are going to work on the jeans!

Beat the Pro Charity Challenge

Who fancies their chances?

James and I are giving any member the chance to beat us in a round of golf. For the month of March, we challenge any member to a matchplay game over 18 holes on the course. We will offer tips and tuition on how to play better golf during the round (especially if you are winning). The cost of this will be ONLY £50, a 9 hole playing lesson is usually the same price. Here are the rules.

1. Member pays £50.

2. Full handicap allowance, singles matchplay format.

3. If Member wins £100 will be credited to their shop account.

4. If Pro wins, half the challenge fee goes to the charity of Pro's choice.

5. Picture in Newsletter for the fame and glory if you win, but don't worry, we won't shame a loser.

To take part then please throw down the gauntlet to either David - 07830073160 or James - 07804478035, if nothing else it will be a bit of banter and something to get the season underway. the days available are as follows.

David - Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

James - Any day (spot who isn't married with kids).

Greenkeeping Corner

As I said earlier the course is drying out. On a recent round, it was great to see the greenkeepers out with the rough and fairway machines. A nice stripe to the grass now and the smell is awesome. I love the smell of fresh-cut grass in the morning.

I also saw an email from Bill talking about pitch mark and I see where he is coming from. Not easy to spot on the greens due to the sand but just take a couple of extra seconds to fix yours and a few others. We are flying around the course in 3 hours these days anyway.

Collin Morikawa won his first World Golf Championship at the WGC-Workday Championship amid an outpouring of tributes to Tiger on Sunday in Florida, with players wearing Tiger’s signature ‘Sunday Red’ and Morikawa himself delivering a touching ‘Thank you’ message in his post-round interview.

Annika Sorenstam got chins wagging on the LPGA Tour as the 50-year-old Hall-of-Famer played her first event since retiring in 2008. Nelly Korda pipped Lexi Thompson to victory at the Gainbridge LPGA, but Sorenstam’s cameo (including making the cut) gave players and fans a moment to cherish.

Fill your pocket!

Filling your bag with balls you’ve stumbled across in search & rescue missions for your own will only get you so far. However, a lesser-known truth about golf balls is that you really need to know about the right model for your game.

Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x?

Let’s take brand-new Pro V1 and Pro V1x models as an example.

You'll no doubt have seen these sitting in the pro shop before. Well, for 2021 they've had a big upgrade but the question remains:

How do you know which one is right for your game?

Well, as you can see in the graphic below, the Pro V1 will give you a lower, more penetrating ball flight with a softer feel. Whilst the Pro V1x spins more in the long game (this helps it get that extra height), it is noticeably firmer around the greens. Oh, and let's not forget about the AVX either - the softest and lowest flying ball out of the three.
