Beaten in Pro Challenge

Remember last week I was bragging I had not been beaten. Well these two bandits below have managed it. If anyone would like to take the challenge then please get in touch. Only £50 for your playing lesson (18 holes). If you win £100 will be credited to your shop account. If you lose then half the fee will go to a local charity of my choice. So far I have £75 saved up for it. I have two more matches lined up this week so hopefully I can break the £100 mark. James is also available for a challenge. Same rules.

Tam happy with his win at the 18th

I had an enjoyable round with Tam. Very steady and a demon on the greens. I was round in 71 on a blustery day and lost at the last. Tam held his nerve well to win. Well done Tam, £100 credited to your shop account.

Lindsay delighted with his win at the 13th

I don't think you can ever enjoy getting your butt kicked. Lindsay was exceptional, I was out in 35 (E) and was five down. Lindsay eventually put me out of my misery at the 13th. I was only level par for the 13 holes. I will be having a word with the handicap secretary, a potential shark here. Your shop account has been credited accordingly. Well done Lindsay, keep up the good form.

A wee trip doon Memory Lane

Many thanks to Simon Reilly for taking the time to send me these images. These are official documents from the 1992 season. A lifetime ago it seems, Some fantastic memories of back then. Some great scores and fantastic junior players. We had a fantastic junior section back then. I really believe the work that Ian Prentice is doing will bring back those amazing days. Thanks to Peter Brown for his efforts previously and to the current committee, the committee have encouraged FREE junior golf this season. My assistant James will be on hand to coach them all through the season. Good luck everyone.

From Friday Myself or James will be available at the front of the clubhouse to guide you back to competition golf. We will be there to help sign you in and also to top up your cards. This can only be done using cash and not a debit card. The building and Pro Shop are currently out of bounds and no access will be granted. We will be on hand for you to order any goods and collect from the front door. Please get in touch even if it is just for a bottle of water. Until Monday 26th April we will only be there on the following days, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 8:00am till 4:00pm.

Major season kicks off this week

European golf fans, cover your eyes! The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play was not pretty viewing for Padraig Harrington & Co. as the States dominated, with Billy Horschel defeating Scottie Scheffler in a scrappy final. Who can blame them considering it was their 7th match in just four days!

The Major Championship season kicks off this week as the world’s best lady golfers head to California for the ANA Inspiration. Last year’s tournament saw Mirim Lee shock everyone with a comeback win including two chip-ins, an 18th-hole eagle and a three-way playoff! A host of the game’s stars, including the Korda sisters (Nelly & Jess), Lexi Thompson and Danielle Kang have all been in fine form this year. It’s destined to be a cracker!

Hopefully, it won't be long before you're teeing up in major club competitions once again, so why not book yourself in for a lesson or two to sharpen up your game?

Staying grounded this season

You quite literally want to stay grounded as you play golf this year. I’m not expecting you to float away like a balloon, but without the right footwear there is a chance that your ball will.

The obvious place to start here is with an outsole that grips the turf both as you walk and as you swing, letting your mind focus on playing golf.
