Hi folks,
Welcome to my latest newsletter. I have just returned home from a few days at Harrogate at the Golf Trade Show where I get to take a look at the new gear for next season. Each and every year the brands raise the bar ever-so-slightly and continue to improve. Maybe that's why all the scores have been so good this season?
But for now we will focus on the present and it is the word you've all been waiting for - SALE! Many items are reduced so please come and have a look as there are lots of sizes left from the top brands including Nike, adidas, FootJoy and TaylorMade to name but a few. Maybe the pictures here will tempt you?
This week's pupil to focus on was Brian Stewart. Brian must be the only guy I have come across that suffered from a slice with a hooker's grip! The main reason for his slice was that he had the ball positioned way too far forward for an iron, therefore he was catching the ball thin. Because the swing was catching the ball as it was curving round in the arc, it was impacting left-to-right spin on ball. We moved the ball back to the centre of his stance and already we have witnessed straighter and better struck shots due to the ball being in the correct place. Check out the before and after pictures here.
Don't worry, Brian, we will get to work on that "dodgy grip" next lesson!
This weekend sees the last official competition of the season with the fourball event on the Sunday! This means, however, it's nearly time for the main event of the year in the Winter Series. This starts next weekend on Saturday, 24 October. It's a great way of playing winter golf and is played in a stableford format. You can play both Saturday and Sunday if you wish and it costs £3 to enter (£1 sweep, £1 magic 2 and £1 for prizes. We accumulate the £1 over the weeks and have a shootout at end of winter season - we had about £1500 of prizes to play for last season! Just book a time to play through the pro shop, if you don't have a game set up then again call the shop and I will pair you in with someone. Any questions give me a call!
